The benefits of retrofit
WHAT IS RETROFIT?
Retrofitting consists of replacing the polluting heat engine of an existing vehicle with a virtuous electric battery or hydrogen electric system
THE ECOLOGICAL BENEFITS
67% reduction in greenhouse gases (CO2) for a city car, 61% for a light commercial vehicle and 87% for a bus or a truck compared with maintaining theses same vehicles on diesel (Source ADEME : French government agency for environmental transition).
THE ECONOMIC ADVANTAGES
• Purchasing an electric vehicle is 2 to 3 times less expensive than buying a new one.
• On the road, an electric vehicle costs 3€ average per 100kms, compared with 9€ per 100kms for a combustion vehicle (gasoline or diesel, French Ministry of Transportation, 2022), and you can travel anywhere without restrictions (ZFE, LEZ - Low Emission Zones ).
• Maintenance costs are reduced by 25% (an annual check of tires, brakes, suspension and batteries is sufficient).
THE HEALTH BENEFITS
Overall Reduction: Emissions of fine particles (PM2.5/PM10) and nitrogen oxides (NOx), as well as noise (dB).
These factors are responsible, for example, for the premature death of 9M people a year worldwide, including 231,000 in the EU and 48,000 in France. (Sources: Le Monde / LCI / Santé Publique France).
FROM AN ETHICAL POINT OF VIEW
Electrical retrofit combats programmed obsolescence and waste by avoiding the scrapping and rebuilding of many components that could be used for many years to come (chassis, bodywork, windscreen, etc.), thus protecting against the abuse of the planet's finite resources.
